FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

Does anyone know how I should treat possibly a sick two week old chick? She's making weird sneezing noises and gurgling and opening her beak to breathe about 50% of the time. There's no discharge from her eyes or her nose. I posted on the upper respiratory infection site but haven't heard back from anyone. She separated from the other seven at the moment.
I don't know about a sick two week old chick but I did have a pullet that was acting the same. I gave her Tylan 50 injection of ½ cc intramuscular every other day for 3 doses alternating injection sites. (in the breast but not hitting the breast bone) which helped and she was fine after that, but that would be difficult I think on a young chick. Maybe Tylan Soluable/Tylosin Tartrate 1 teaspoon to a gallon of water for 7 to 10 days. I am not suggesting you try this on your chick. Not really sure and hopefully someone will know. Good luck.

Thank you. I've read a great deal about that stuff(soluable version) and vet rx. I think tractor supply may carry something I can use. I'll keep my fingers crossed. She is very upset that she's isolated but I can't hold her all day

I don't have the double entry type, mine only swing in one direction but I really can't swing the door in both directions where they are because if I did I would have to completely open the door in the one direction to get in and by swinging it in the other direction I can just open it enough to get myself and the buckets of feed in to fill their feeders. Most of my doors my gates open in and some have stops so the doors and gates can't be opened out. Good luck and have fun...

I have spring hinges on the coop.... that helps.

Thanks!
I'll add spring hinges to the ever growing list of must-haves in the new coop. I'm in the planning stages but I have finally picked out the site! I should start construction in next 2 weeks. I've got nothing else planned so weather permitting I hope for a mid-March move-in. Just in time for some new chicks

Now to get the girls bug-free before they move into the new house. We have a mite problem....

Live between Groveland and Okahumpka in Lake County. Central FL.
On 4 acres surrounded by thousands of acres of ag land. Cattle, a tree nursery, a bit of vegetable production(melons), and an orange/tangerine grove of 600 acres that I have full access to. That last part makes me very happy this time of year.
Had chickens the first 20 years of my life in TN... had geese here last season that I hand raised and adored completely. Lost them just before Christmas to a pack of coyotes in the middle of the day.
Going to increase my fence quality(because two sides of my back pasture are 4strand where the former occupant just kept a steer or two) and try again with Brown Africans and American Buffs.
That whole 'excrement happens' thing.

Looking forward to having geese again, and adding some chickens as well.

I feel your pain. We lost our ducks and a lot of chickens to coyotes and a bobcat. We also get bear, fox, raccoons, etc. It's much different than NH that's for sure.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Hopefully the fence will prevent it from reoccurring.
I'm formally from Knoxville. Now in Tampa and looking for a home with a couple acres before we get poultry.
