I ended up not going down to the swap. I went the Ebay route when the price dropped on some quail eggs I had been browsing. Factoring in the gas of going down to Dunnellon, I came out ahead getting them this way. If half of them hatch, I'll be happy. This will be my first attempt at incubation ever.

What incubator do you have? Just curious. If you ever are in our area on one of our swap days, stop by. We have several people who hatch and sell hatching quail eggs.

My incubator is a Janoel 10 plus sold under the Life Basis brand. It was a gift by a family member that saw I was excited to get back into chickens again. I’ll probably get a higher-end incubator later but for now I think this will suit me. I have 23 quail eggs squeezed into it and they seem to be turning well. I had to remove the 24th egg because it would cause some others to bind when rolling.

What kind of quail? Again just curious. I used to have Bob White Quail and Ringneck Pheasants.

Coturnix.l. I didn’t go with bobwhite because I’m more interested in quick egg and meat production than I am the game value. Bobwhite seems complicated due to their pairing requirements and slower growth rate.

Most of the people here at the swaps have Coturnix quail and a few have Button quail.

Is there a list somewhere of all the swaps that happen in Florida? I only know of one swap near me but I was hoping to have a bit more variety if I traveled some more.

If it helps I’m located in West Palm Beach Florida, but I’m willing to travel a bit if need.
