FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

Hello gang,

My DH builds wooden nesting boxes if anyone needs one....3 hole or 4 hole with attached perch and wall mounts. They are well built and much cheaper than the ones you order online + shipping cost!

Here is a couple of pics......

This one he built special for our coop! I paint it green...I love it!

I received some started chicks around 3 weeks of age back in March.
They were shipped with pieces of fruit - - watermelon, oranges slices, etc.

I do know that the shipped had to take a couple of extra days to hand feed them ahead of time to make sure they could eat the fruit.
Every bit of food was gone by the time they got here AND they were thirsty when they arrived.

It cost the seller almost $50 in postage to ship them . . . . . PLUS the special box. . ..

Oh why did my happy day have to have a sour note?! Just got home from running around all day to hear 2 of my favorite chickens attempting to crow

At least that what it sounds like...the RIR isn't a surprise, as I've guessed he was one since he has a bigger comb an wattles than the other two, and they are more reddish than pink, and he's kinda a bully to the other birds, but he is so sweet to me and doesn't fight when I pick him up and carry him around or just sit and hold him on my lap and rub his face...boo hiss!!!

The 2nd one kinda came as a surprise- it's one of my silkie / polish mixes...total sweetheart and has never gone after any of the other birds (actually runs and hides when there's confrontation...lol). This one is more vocal today, kinda like cooing more than trying to crow, but I'm guessing that's how it starts :-/

I'd be totally happy if I were completely wrong in both cases, but I don't think I could be that lucky...I know Roos are actually permitted in St. Pete however I don't want to push it with the nice neighbors that okay'ed us having chickens...

So, anyone interested in giving either a good home?! Not looking for a dinner home though...I know it's a longshot :-/

Epignosisjs - Welcome! I have a friend who lives in Brooksville! Beautiful place! Just so you know, your quote "I haven't failed, I've found 10,000 ways that don't work" is actually from Thomas Alva Edison and not Ben Franklin.

K9thorsmom - love your tag "exotic yard birds"! Sorry to hear about your hens deciding to be roos. I have 3 silkies myself and wonder if 2 of them are roos! Anyone know how to tell when they are still a bit young? None of mine are crowing yet but both white ones have wattles and the partridge one does not. I figure the latter is female and the former are both males.
