FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

Hi everyone in Florida! I have a very chicken friendly dog I rescued looking for a home. Someone dumped him on our road emaciated and covered with fleas and tics and hardly any hair on him from scratching so much. We've had him a month and his hair is coming back and he is looking better every day. He has a sweet disposition gets along with my 4 dogs, 1 cat and 17 free roaming chickens! He weighs around 50 pounds and the vet said he is around 7-8 months old. He will be neutered and micro chipped, he will be ready for a new home at the end of August (thats when he gets neutered) We have spent around 300.00 but we just want a good home for him. People are always dumping dogs here thats why we have 4 but I really can't keep them all but I also can't drive by and pretend I don't see them. So I guess I am a part-time dog shelter! I live in the gainesville area. I can email some better pics

Looks like a hawk - we lost three birds last spring. Advice given and taken was to string up dvd and cd discs - I've not lost another bird. Now, on the other hand, we have a new computer. I didn't realize I had to keep software F O R E V E R , so some of those discs are rather expensive!

Not that I have found. We have one here on MI who helps our son by signing off on his science project with live animals. They are next to the DMV, but I don't know if they treat as well.

What's wrong?

It appears he either has a slipped tendon or splay leg or something. He can't walk on the one leg.

Nava,

We have two breeding pairs of red tails, at least 1 Coopers hawk, a pair of Asprey and the occasional Eagle. Having the Great Pyrenees in the yard all the time stops them from coming in, and stops all other predators so far too. We are able to keep the male out all of the time, the female still needs reminded the birds aren't toys. They are both still young though so she is getting better.

Lilchick,

Check out the injury and emergency area, good info on how to bandage for splay leg. The duck area has info on slipped tendon treatment that works like a charm.

Ok Guys and Gals...we need help here in Lee County and I know this is not the right forum to ask in BUT not many peeps go to Chicken ordinances and laws...or is that chicken laws an ord....anyways...our commissioners are back from vacation (how nice for them having ALL of July off) anyone in Lee county please call or email " Please call ALL FIVE! Because we need 3 out of 5 votes to get this passed! Here they are...Frank Mann (Dist 5) 533-2225 email: [email protected]...Tammy Hall (Dist 4) 533-2226 email: [email protected]...Ray Judah (Dist3) 533-2223 email: [email protected]...Brian Bigelow (Dist2) 533-2227 email: [email protected]...John Manning (Dist1) 533-2224 email: [email protected]"
We are getting a bit desperate here because anti chicken people keep stealing our petitions from the places we leave them at. So all you lucky ducks or peeps out there...please at least email a commissioner or 2 or 3 and tell them to allow chickens ...please and thankyou all

this is only for peeps that live in Lee county right?

or can we all email and call them?

Hawks are protected, so you can not personally do anything about them. They are nocturnal. I would suggest pinning up your chickens during the "darker hours" & letting them "roam" only during broad daylight. I also like the Great Pyrenees suggestion. Beautiful dogs!
