FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

I will be there Saturday. I should be bringing BO chicks, ducklings ,buff Brahma, even a trio of white silkies laying age plus a few other things

Would love to go to the lake city show tomorrow maybe I can convince DH but doubt it cause he wants to see some more eggs before I get more chickens. Right now he's thinking about claiming them as dependents on the tax return.
The Lake City show is next weekend January 12th.

I got mine about the same time and the first batch of 5 hens, 4 blk ausralorp and 1 EE, layed for about 7 days and stopped then I got 4 more hens, 1 blk ausralorp and 3 wyandottes, someone didn't want and they layed for a couple of days then stopped, then I got a rooster an EE someone didn't want, he is very dominant male but nice to me. A couple of days ago I bought 2 more hens one a cuckoo maran and one an ameracaunas got one more egg and they stopped. I figure they just all have to get on the same cycle and I will be overwhelmed with eggs. Oh and then I also got a breeding pair of white silkies, thats how I know my rooster is a very dominant male, tried to put them in with the rest of my flock and I had to pull my EE off of the silkie and out of the pen and they now reside in my greenhouse till we can get other accomindations for them. I hope you are quarantining the new birds you are bringing in...speaking from personal experience here, it can save your whole flock if you end up with birds that are carriers for something unpleasant. I bought adults that ended up getting sick and if i had not quarantined I would have had to cull my whole flock. Just something to consider.

so far so good here with blue skies after they predicted chance of rain. Makes cleaning the brooder stalls so much nicer today to not have to dump used bedding in the rain.

Good luck to those showing next week.

x20000 what Overoberyl said about quarentining new birds. What looks like a great deal for adult stock can lead to a nightmare if they have something that wipes out your entire flock.

up to our ears with hatchlings over the last week, but new owners have been picking up so the numbers are dropping slowly again.

had our first Sebastopol goslings hatch for the year on 12/30 and egg production is increasing from the pens nicely.

I have 4 Buff Orpington cockerels that will be 4 months old that I can bring to the Lake City show next weekend. They are not crowing yet but should start anytime. $20.00 each. If anyone is interested I will bring them.
