I'm a newbie from northern Central Fl. Anyone have this coop How many chickens do you think will fit comfortably in this? I am going to let them run on 1 acre Not fenced all around but want them to have safe area from predators

I believe it's plastic, and will heat up immensely. Not enough fresh air. So, to keep them safe from predators, you need a sturdy pen. You really don't even need a coop. Just shelter from rain. I use a dog house for their egg laying. We have more problems with heat, the cold is so short, half of my chickens live in pens with protection, the other half is in a big shed, but would prefer to roost out in their pen.

here are some pics of the chicken coop, the outside rune is not done yet, but the wood is in the ground and they will have a outside play area next weekend

This is a 14 foot camper that was not road worthy any more. I stripped it fixed a wall that had water damage fixed the roof, and pulled out the carpet and painted the floor with camper roof paint, I kept the rear bathroom to keep the 30 gallon metal trash can for food and bedding. I an going to run permanent power and water to it ,, I plan on auto waterers and still have to build a few ramps for the chickens , the chicken are only 6 weeks old and should have fun camping

This trailer can not be moved, tongue is to rusted out,, it I hooked my truck to it , I might just pull the trailer apart, but it is what it is ,, might last 20 years as a coop

Just a tip from another year old newbie once you get raising chickens you will want more and more lol. Go with something a bit larger if you can afford to or have know how to build one. Trust me in a year (or less) you will be looking for another coop I used shed framing and sheathed the top half to provide plenty of ventilation and allow breezes to get through the coop

It supposedly fits up to 15 full sized birds. I have a play house that I modified into a coop and I have a wooden coop that I built. (the wood coop came first, the second was b/c I had a new hen that wouldn't integrate, now I have two mini flocks, so goes chicken keeping!) I like the plastic b/c it's lightweight for moving and easy to clean,j plus you don't have to worry about mites as much. Ours is in the shade, and doesn't get too hot, and the girls only go in to sleep anyways. Even in this yucky, cold weather we are having, they are all outside scratching and playing. As long as you are predator proof and they have a good place to roost you should be okay. But FloridaBasser is right, go bigger than you think you will need! We have added onto our run twice now, added a second small coop, and we're just at a year too!

Plastic is very pertinent as it wont last more than a year or 2 in the Florida sun, heat, humidity etc etc. and what Seminolewind said will get Very hot

If you notice from the picture I posted I just went big from the start on the run so I dont have to worry about it later lol. Im surprised but glad to hear your plastic is holding up. More than likely because you keep it shaded. I'm already thinking of expanding my flock. I am buying 4 birds off a fellow BYC'er real quick like lol. and I just had 2 chicks hatch

And the playhouse was my daughter's, so it was already about seven years old! It's always been in the shade though, and is holding up really well. Also, the remodeled playhouse had windows that I took off and covered with hardware cloth, so it's super ventilated. I just made plastic "curtains" so I could cover them if it rained too much or was too cold. I would worry that this coop would get hot b/c it is so closed in. I would love more birds, but we are in a backyard in a subdivision, so not really practical. I am dreaming of a couple of acres though........
