I have a broody hen sitting on a clutch of 3 eggs. After candling, it looks like only one may be viable. I’ve been told that an only chick would do better with more chicks, so I’m thinking of possibly adding a few more chicks if and when this one hatches. I expect it to hatch around 3/1. Anyway, does anyone have or know of a good resource for chicks? I’m in the Lake Wales area. Breed is unimportant, but I'd prefer pullets. I know I can get them from Rural King or Tractor Supply, but they have a 6 chick minimum, and I would only be looking to add 2 or 3 chicks,
Maybe you could split some chicks with someone who is also looking for 3 or 4 chicks. The more chicks the merrier.![]()
Check out craigslist in your area. I know people post ads all the time for newly hatched chicksI have a broody hen sitting on a clutch of 3 eggs. After candling, it looks like only one may be viable. 85 Start at 99.5 the first week, and lower by 5 degrees each week until they can withstand the outdoor temps.
