Hi Stephanie,

You need to start a new thread so all can see it, call it....

HELP!!!! I NEED A NEW WHITE SILKIE ASAP near LAKELAND, FLORIDA.....

Then tell your story and someone should know where to get one.

Also lookup the Silkie thread on here, and ask for help. That is what I would do.

Hope this helps.

Um, I hate to be the "bad guy" but, if you don't know why the bird died, you should not add another bird.... sorry....

You should be very careful adding birds to an existing flock or you run the risk of losing them all. It would be better perhaps to use this as a lesson to explain about the short life span of pets and how we should be glad to have had the opportunity to enjoy them while they are here? A tough lesson for a young kid I know, but mixing in new birds is never a good idea. A long isolation at the minimum is necessary. They may be very healthy and be carriers of something that will devastate your entire flock. Been there and it ain't nice. ......stan

x2 right now

Thanks stan. The "reat" of the story about my niece is that her dad was dxed with cancer at the age of 31 with no risk fa tors. He is doing well and in full remission but is easily traumatized by death etc from the fear of losing her daddy (she is 6through now). I told my sister what happened and simcd they xont live super close they arent going to come over and visit whil princess katu is at the vet :/

I am pretty certain it was the weather ....i feel like a horrible animal owner but the plywood covering the run got blown away last night and with the rain....i i just think the delicate birds (ie my 2kids silkies from 2the different breeders) just succombed to the elements. However i realize i have some time zo i am defintely going to gi e the clo k a little time and confirm that they are truly healthy and that my gut is correct.

Thabk you all for your input and hour concern. I appre iate all of you BYCers helping us newbies become better flock caregivers. This was a sad lesson learned and my super duper 2x4 3" screw hardware cloth and plywood coop is being finishwd hopefully tomorrow.

Anyone want a lovely blue JG Cockerel? Handsome fella.. PM me for details. Pick up only.. Hatched 2/19 from someone with Show Quality stock..

Hello~ I'm Cheese. I live in Tallahasse~ I had chickens before but, a fox got them :c I'm getting a coop soon, then hopefully getting a chicken or too~!

Welcome! Use hardware cloth. It will protect them well. I don't have a coop. Mine are in open air pens. It gets rather hot for cooping them up. I am about an hour from you...half way to Panama City.
