There is a lady at the Ortiz flea market every Saturday that sells Chicks, chickens, turkeys, ect. She is a little pricey, but usually has some nice birds.

Hi!
We are just starting the chicken thing here on Pine Island in Lee County. Wow! I did not realize there was so much to raising some chickens. )
We are starting with 10. 2 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Barred Plymouth Rock, 2 Danish Brown Leghorns and 4 Araucanas.
They hatched on Tuesday and we received them on Wednesday morning from Estes Hatchery.
Our neighbor has a Silkie that we love but they did not have any. (
They are in the dog kennel right now. I zip tied cardboard all around it so they would stay warm.
I have been reading all of the coop posts to find some ideas.
My husband says I am getting too many ideas. LOL
I am glad I found these boards.
