I live in Barberville, halfway between Deland and Bunnell, wayyyy out in the woods. I have
BR, RIR, Aracauna's, Silkies, Serama's, SF, and EE's. I am working on seperating everyone so I can offer eggs soon.

One day I will make it to a swap

Hi...Just thought I would check in this thread since I hadn't visited it in a while. I still live in N. Central Florida, about 25-30 miles east of Gainesville. Glad to see there are more Floridians here.

Hi neighbors! I'm in Gainesville, Florida. We've gotten really addicted to keeping chickens! It all started with just wanting our own eggs but then we started looking for organic, soy-free layer feed to make for healthier eggs. THAT was a really hard find! I'm pretty sure we went to every single feed store in Alachua, Marion and all the other surrounding counties.

It probably sounds crazy but since we couldn't find anyone local selling the quality of organic chicken feed we wanted, we just opened up our own store. We've partnered with an organic mill (they are local!!) and opened a new pet supply/feed store here in Gainesville. It started with just chicken feed but now we're also selling organic feed for ducks, turkey, goats, pigs, cattle, horses....I was surprised how many people around here are getting "back to the basics" and learning to raise their own food! I'm learning a lot - both from the seasoned farmers and from people like me who are just learning. It's really amazing and fun to meet people who seem to really care about their animals and the quality of their health.

If there are any locals wanting to help out, we're always looking for people who are wanting to share their skills...like coop building or teaching others who are new to raising chickens. Anyway, I'm rambling but just wanted to say HI to other chicken-lovin' Floridians! Great website!

Hello from the Tampa Bay area. We live a bit out of the suburbs, south of Brandon, FL. Good to know there are a lot of Floridians out here.. and to the two of you in lil ole Seminole County--I taught in Sanford two years ago

If there are any parents in Tampa Bay with their kids in 4-H, I'm interested in getting my daughter involved this year...I've emailed a couple of clubs with no immediate response, so a contact would be great!

There's another thread titled "Florida Anyone?" that has a link to a Florida map where we can mark our locations in the state. But I want to chime in here on this thread too. I'm in SE Florida, in Palm Beach County, in western West Palm Beach in a semi-rural acreage neighborhood. I've been keeping chickens since we moved here from Miami about 6 years ago.

Right now I have some lovely laying hens for sale, young pullets right at point-of-lay. Some are purebreds, others hearty mixed-breeds. Let me know if you or those you know would like to add some to your flocks!
