Flower Power, winter has been to long crochet swap, closes March 10

Okay someone kick me! I have been waiting to start my projects until I get some green (somehow in all my yarn I do not have green) but I forgot the green when I was in Walmart tonight!
I'll do the flower starts tonight I guess. And the. I'll have to go back into Walmart. Yuck. Oh how I loath Walmart. Lol
Me too, but sadly Walmart is the only place to buy yarn unless I want to drive 20 miles. I don't mind the distance but the traffic is horrible. What brand of yarn does everyone perfer? I have not been happy with the yarn I am getting at Walmart so it might be worth the drive to get something better from Joann's or Michael's.

The good part of living near a large city lots of shops and restaurants. The bad part way to many people and not enough open space. I'm looking forward to retirement so I can move to a rural area.
I would not live in a city for anything. It is bad enough where we are because the city has started moving toward us. We have gone to a two stop light town and really need a third. lol

Red Heart is always my standby. It's consistently strong and colorful and reasonably priced, although not exactly cuddly. I shop at Michael's a lot, and I like loops and threads, too. Vanna's Choice is nice, but not cheap. Caron's "Pounds" are similar in quality and texture to RH, but there are limited color choices. I can't stand the feel of Caron's simply soft - it has no give. It feels nice to the touch, but I don't like the way it works up.

Walmart isn't my favorite, but here's a factoid. When Hurricane Katrina got to class five, Walmart set up an emergency plan. When it came ashore, they loaded the trucks with water and pop-tarts and got them down there while the government waited.

That is an interesting fact that I did not know.

The with love brand is awesome, has a good hand and very nice colors. Also if you have a hobby lobby handy they have a brand called "I love this yarn" it is great too.

I think the with love is a red heart brand, but it is softer then the traditional red heart

Ok, I just looked at my email and found out that it is NATIONAL CROCHET WEEK Joanns is offering most yarn at 40% off. The sale ends today 4-8-13, but there are coupons for 50% off of regular priced items that last until tomorrow http://www.joann.com//

Who knew "National Crochet WeeK"

We are on the countdown for any who are thinking of joining in this swap. New crocheters are going to be accepted through the 10th, just 2 more days. Also any who are thinking about doing multiple sets need to make that known by the 10th.

How are you guys doing? Everyone picked their patterns????

Mine are going well, I haven't counted but think I'm on square 14 or 15.

I have 39 done. That's two sets plus at the moment. We'll see who else joins.
