Is it safe to give chickens Flubendazole when they've already had ivermectin? Some of my new chooks were given ivermectin for lice/mite/worm treatment just before I got them. I now wish to use Flubendazole medicated feed on the whole flock as a wormer. Is this safe?

Oh, and fwiw, there are several de-worming products for pigeons and game birds that combine the two two drugs from the ivermectin and fenbendazole classes of drugs, so lots of people do this. Me, I use albendazole or fenbendazole with ivermectin at the same time on a regular basis.

Fabulous! Thanks everyone! I don't think we have these two combined in the UK. The flubendazole is the ONLY dewormer licenced for chickens over here. There are pigeon products containing ivermectin but I haven't found them with both but it may well be a prescription-only option. We have sooooo many more restrictions over here when it comes to medication. We can't go down to our equivalent of Tractor Supply and buy medications and supplements the way you guys do. It's a nightmare!

I also have pet goats and trying to get even a basic loose feed mineral is impossible. I have resorted to buying from the US in the past but the shipping is prohibitive!

I am extremely envious of you all and very grateful for your help xx

Casportpony....
What is your dosage, how do you give it and frequency for the fenbendazole/ivermectin concoction you administer? Also what forms do you purchase the 2 drugs in?
Thank you for your help!

In the USA, Ivermectin is not approved for chickens either. People use it anyway, along with many other unapproved drugs, just because the drugs can be found at stores or online.
IMO, not a good idea. Many of these same folks would be horrified if a commercial operation was found with these products in their birds or eggs.
Flame suit on again...
Mary
