Fluffed Up Chick

The most common problem in chicks this age that would cause lethargy and puffing up would be coccidiosis. I would get the Corid liquid if possible. Give her a couple of drops of the undilted Corid, then mix 2 tsp in a gallon of water and treat as Wyorp Rock posted. Get her drinking water to keep her hydrated. Do not delay getting the medicine into her.

No. What would I be looking for? Sorry if that's an ignorant question, but this is our first run with these guys. I know where the crop is, just not what things to be aware of.

Not sure if this picture helps or not.
And this is my first run at chicks, so my question is about the medicated feed. I guess it's not full proof against Coccidiosis?View attachment 1560242

Medicated feed only contains a small amount of Coccidiostat, usually Amprolium is you are in the US. I can help prevent an overload in chicks, but it's not fool proof. Nothing is.
Wet bedding, initial health of the chick, weather conditions, age of feed and many more things factor in. It is not uncommon for chicks that are on medicated starter to still have any overload. Treating with Corid should help if that is what her problem is.

The poop in your photos looks normal to me. Does she have loose stools with mucous or blood?
It will not hurt her to treat for Coccidiosis, the Corid is mild and well accepted.

I would also check her crop as suggested by @Leslie10481 just to make sure it's functioning properly as well. Feel the crop, does it feel hard, soft squishy, fluid or air filled, does she have sour breath. The crop should be empty in the morning before she eats/drinks. Sometimes crop function is hard to gauge if a chick is under light 24/7 because they eat/drink at all hours, so do the best you can.

Let us know how she's doing.

I didn't get home until late, but my wife gave it the Corid.

This morning I checked it's crop and it's hard a rock and large. What do I do now?

Sounds like it might have an impacted crop. I have only experience it with one of my 3 month old pullets. I separated her from the others. Only offered her water with electrolytes. I also massaged her crop a few times a day. I gave her a piece of bread soaked in olive oil. Good luck. I hope it passes.

I would continue with the Corid water, make that the only source of drinking water available.

What do you feed the chick? (including any treats)
Do you have grit (crushed granite) available free choice?

I would start out by trying to get some coconut oil into her. I put a small amount in the freezer for a few minutes to harden it, then break it up into little chunks. Mine will readily eat it, if not, then do what you can to get that into her. I would not used bread soaked in oil, for the simple reason that bread can gum up the crop and exacerbate the problem. If all you have is olive oil, you can use that.

After you get the oil into her, massage the crop to see if you can get what's in there broken up. Massage as many times a day as you can. At least 3-4X if possible.
I would not offer food for the day, just make sure she is drinking.

Keep us posted.

Great information. Thank you.

Food has been removed, not sure if water if being drank, so we are administering water and Corid. I'm unsure of the oil necessary since we have zero coconut oil, so it's water and Corid for now. I really don't think she's getting enough fluid............her poops are small and dry.......but this is my first rodeo.

I'm not certain that I'm finding the crop on a chick, but it's as close as I can figure.........we'll see.

Do what you can to get her hydrated - use the Corid Water.
If the crop is still hard, then massage it gently.
What are you feeding her? Does she have grit?

The crop is on the right side of the chick, if you run your hand down her breast you should be able to feel it if it's full of food and water.
