Fly Trap Accident

Raven is a bantam chicken.

And I promise we didn't rip those feathers out ourselves, she came to me stuck to the trap with those feathers already ripped out on the trap.

At least she's getting along with the chicks?
Okay.

Why would we think that you ripped those out lol.

I hope for the best for you.:hugs

x2 For the oil trick. Massage cooking oil into the sticky spots and might as well give her legs a good rub down too (I hear it's good for their scales, and rids them of scaly leg mites), then a nice warm soak in some soapy water (Dawn works very well). Make sure she's dry before putting her back with the flock....but... since you're already giving her a spa day, might as well check between the toes and the bottoms of her feet for any bumblefoot that could benefit from the soak.

Was super late and rainy when we quit for the night. This AM tried vinegar and put her back out with flock, she was super stressed, mouth open, wheezing, etc.
I'll follow up on her later.
Have a bunch of ladies in need of an oil leg dip, guess I should do more flock maintenance today overall. Just bought a fresh oil bottle for that.
I'll let ya know!

Never claimed to be the brightest bulb!

Put a sticky fly trap in a, clear to me now, bad location.

Poor little Raven was brought to me missing a ton of feathers and still wrapped around the fly trap.

Put Raven in a warm sink bath.
Tried Dawn.
Tried nail polish remover.
Tried 50% Isopropyl.

The isopropyl did the best I think, but she's still sticky.
And now has bald spots, including missing lots of wing feathers.

I'm thinking she's in a lot of pain. Squirted some witch hazel on bald patches to soothe the skin, seemed to help.

She's drying off in the brooder.

Pics to follow and what else do I do for her?!
Did she ultimately survive?
