Flying with eggs?

The great thing about BYC....someone has always tried, thought of it, researched it or run into it already. Thank you to those who have shared their experience on this flying stuff. It has been quite informative!

i doubt putting them in your checked luggage is a good idea.... have you seen them throw those bags?? let alone the way they flop off the one conveyer onto the pickup conveyor.. and other bags flop on top of the ones already there... that would be an expensive heartbreaking mess waiting to happen...

and realistically, even if they wanted it in a quart baggie.. you're bringing them home, not taking with... once you get off the plane you're going home i would assume and have a full size regular toothpaste waiting.. so pitch the travel toothpaste and travel gel and bring home eggs...

eggs /hair gel.... eggs/ toothpaste.... eggs... what was the other option??? lol...

sorry... i'm goofy... let me know if you end up doing this.. my aunt was wondering about bringing me eggs from FL....
granted, she was discussing smuggling them in her bra... lol.. but i think that would start the incubation process.... sorry aunt joanie.. you have to keep those eggs in your bra till you see me at my house tomorrow with my warm and ready incubator.. lol...

Oh yes, on a flight returning from Puerto Rico one man had a crowing, wriggling burlap sack on his lap.

I'm sitting here trying to imagine smuggling a rooster like that. Or trying to con them with a silkie. I've brought plants into the US with me on a flight; from England during the hoof and mouth disease scare no less. There are regulations, but it IS allowed, although I had to explain chapter and verse. Mostly it was the 20 others from our tour group, all big botanists and such, with THEIR collections coming up behind me in line. BTW, I would always be extremely careful even crossing state lines with plants; legally there are issues, but I'm more concerned with the horrendous disease and insect problems being spread. anyway, the airport security is always different.
