Amiga is right, many simply don't. I have a few breeds here that do lol (muscovy & calls) now for wing clipping done properly is a completely acceptable coarse of action. Storey's guide to ducks contain good directions.

I personally don't but my scovies free range and the calls are penned but that depends on the set-up.
