I'm so sorry that happened to you! I can relate, having recently moved to a place where I know no one, every single person I've hired ended up robbing me.

Not sure if this helps but have you checked craigslist? There are some free to cheap coops not too far from you. Here's one you might be able to adapt without having to start from scratch: https://austin.craigslist.org/grd/d/chicken-coop-free/6386308962.html
Omgosh you a thank you so much the second one is right around the corner from me
I hope it works out!!! Keep us posted and let us know how we can help you fix it up!

Let us know what happens! So sorry someone took advantage of you :( Is he maybe coming back after the holidays or something? I know some laborers will take a few months in the winter to visit home if they are from somewhere far.

I hope so because my husband is mad at me lol I just wanted to given a man work and now he won't let me spend the money for the blue coop

Thanks. I wish I could build my own......I'm not handy...like really not handy I took woodShop in high school and they always made me paint they never let me do the work (u_u)

Awwww...that's terrible. You never know you just may be able to build one! I'm a bookkeeper...not even close to a carpenter. I call everything a do-hicky...or a thing-a-ma-jig... But, lookie here.... https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/how-a-bookkeeper-built-a-coop.1204897/#post-19108575.

With help from every one here...You can do it!

You could do it! I was 58, not in very good shape, & my son (16) & I built a coop out of a wooden packing crate I found on CL for free.

I had an electric drill, a handsaw, tin snips, and nails/screws and that 4’x4’ coop is still in use today!!

I agree! The basic tools aren't very difficult to get a hold of and I would be glad to help with info/instructions(although I bet your hubby could help you too) , even build it with you if i lived closer! If you need a coop quick you could screw/nail a few pallets in a rectangle and cover it with plastic or a tarp, although I don't know your circumstances, just assuming the coop doesn't need to be too complex, seeing you live in the South. Hope whatever you choose goes well!
