Foamy Eye

I just got back from the vet with Perkins. They said he has a nasty respiratory infection and gave him an antibiotic shot and cleaned out his nose. It was gross!
She said it depends on how he reacts to this shot whether I can keep him or not. She said keep him in the house for 3 days and there should be rapid improvement.
I hope so!
Thanks for all your help BYC buddies!

Perkins seems much better. He is even trying to crow!! He still has a little water in his eye (I mean just slightly watery) and he is still shaking his head some. He is back outside in his run and looks really happy...except when he thinks I am going to catch him!

I gotta catch him today and get a real good look at him. If he still has a problem, I will see it then. When his eye was foamy it would always get worse when he was stressed. I guess he was breathing harder and since he was all stopped up, he was making the bubbles!

I got a syringe to flush his sinuses with saline, so I will do that and I am going to put some Terramycin in his water for a few days to be sure this respiratory thing is gone. I just have to figure out how to mix the Terramycin up. The package directions are for large quantities and so confusing!

I believe terramycin is 1/4 tsp per gallon but i could be wrong... It has been awhile since i had to use it for anything. Don't you hate the way they show measurments in large quantities, im horrible at math and always end up calling the feed store and asking (the chicken man).

Edited for dosage correction
