This is the first time I've seen foamy eyes in one of our birds, but they have had some crop issues this fall.

There was more foam, but it reduced in the sun while I was getting ready to take the pictures. Her crop was a bit slow a couple mornings ago, but before that, she's been the healthiest hen. Are there any explanations possible other than MG/MS? We tested negative for it, but it's probably been awhile.

The foam is totally gone, now. I saw it after she got out of the nest box and ran about 100 ft (maybe 60 down, 40 back,) in light wind (maybe around 5mph,) at 56 degrees F, where I caught her, lifted her up, and saw the foam.

Yes. Another reason for minor foaming of the eye can be a temporary irritant. Or a minor eye infection. Saline eye wash followed up with Neosporin in the eye usually takes care of the problem. If it doesn't, then you need to consider a respiratory infection and treatment with an antibiotic.

I have a twelve-year old hen with a tumor over her eye. It has caused blindness, and occasionally, the eye foams up and that causes her annoyance whereas the tumor doesn't seem to. I keep a little bottle of "PINK EYE" solution and one squirt of that seems to stop the bubbling.
