Hello I need help I live in Laredo Texas and my mother is actively trying to get rid of chickens that don’t belong to her Im more or less treated like a tenant meaning she wants my to pay a sorta rent to stay in my family home and I have about 20-25 chickens. She doesn’t own them, doesn’t buy feed, and doesn’t even look at them and constantly tries to find way to mess with my flock. That said right now she blew a fuse with me and is now wanting to actually get rid of them instead of threatening me and I need help In knowing if she can even do this she doesn’t even buy the food or the coop they simply stay in her property that is currently my residence but besides that they aren’t hers I’m 19 and I’m planning on moving away but currently it’s up in the air and I just need help because the chickens are like a small income and they are my pets. I just need to know if I can file a complaint to the city or have my animals protected because I’m the owner

This is a sad situation. I'm not a lawyer, but I think it's a case of 'her home, her rules'. Can you mend fences with her while planning your exit?
My mother treats me like tenant meaning I should by law have tenants rights especially if she threatens to kick me out if I don’t pay rent

This is a sad situation. Is it possible that you can find another long term rental, or place to stay with your chickens?
If not, try to have a talk with her. I don't know whats going on with your health, but maybe explain to her why you disagree? Would it be possible to have a conversation and try to get her to see your point of view? Maybe tell her that her threatening your chickens is only pushing you away, and not helping the situation. Often times this is easier said then done, as I of course no nothing about your situation.
I think that if its possible to have a conversation with her about the best way to handle the situation would be the best course of action here. It is her property, so she has rights to evict you or ask you to remove the chickens if she wants. Its a tough problem, I'm sorry your having to deal with this.

I believe that she can legally evict you though. If that's what she wants she just files the paperwork and then you can be removed from the property. Sounds like you need a place What exactly does "a sorta rent" mean?
What exactly does "a sorta rent" mean?
It means she’s going to charge me rent if I don’t find a job soon unfortunately I got laid off because of COVID and being freshly out of high school by three months it’s hard finding a job in the area
