Folks with Pigs, I need quick help

We're not certain how old it is, so in the chance that it's still less than 24 hours we're going to start it on colostrum for the rest of today and then switch to a universal mothers milk.
I think that's an excellent plan. When in doubt, give the benefit of the doubt. It sure wont do any harm.

When I was bottle feeding Layla, I mixed the colostrum and milk replacer together for about 4 days. Then switched to just feeding the milk replacement. The colostrum is to get the antibodies started for the immune system. Natural mother's milk contains colostrum for about 3 to 4 days after birth.
I used a regular human baby bottle to nurse Layla, she wouldn't take the 'goat' or 'sheep' nipples that are available.
Good luck with your piglet.

Thanks Sean.

It seems to be ok at the moment. We lost it for a minute or two but it came back. It was eating and then went stiff as a board. Put it back wrapped in the heat pad and rubbed its tummy it started breathing again, moving about and making little piggy sounds. It's in the heat pad now resting.

That must have been an anxious minute...we're all rooting for your little pig Bob. Keeping my fingers crossed :fl

Whoa! Scary! Hang in there Pinkerton!

Well sorry to report it didn't make it. Last time I checked it was breathing normally and making happy pig sounds in its sleep. 30 minutes later it was gone. Eyes closed and passed in its sleep. At least we know it had a happier life with us trying than when we found it hiding from mom. The last 24 hours have been incredibly stressful. Yes the pig issue require our full attention, but at the same time my niece was in an amber alert. She's just been returned home. So I'm ready for an adult beverage. Pig 0/Niece 1 are results I'll take for the day. I know, I have low standards. :hit:oops:

So sorry Bob, you gave it the best chance possible. :hugs

TG about your niece, glad that worked out ok!

I think you should have 2 adult beverages...1 for the piggy and 1 for your niece.
Given the emotional roller coaster, I might have two or three for each and then just sleep, if I can. House is up to 77* with us trying to keep the pig warm. I'm sweating in the coldest part of our winter. :th
