Follow me to a trip to China

Pics
June 29th morning. Xiamen botanical garden. It is a massive park, built around a hill.

We entered through South gate. Right away we took probably 10 escalators built on the hillside to get to the very top. You could do some very nice hike instead.

it does seem to be some kind of small heron. I looked up little blue heron and they are only in America's.

Here is a pic before it flew off.

June 29th afternoon. I went to the most popular place in Xiamen: Gulangyu

Gulangyu is a small island off Xiamen coast. An 8 min ferry from Xiamen will get you there. But it's so popular that you better buy tickets beforehand. I didn't do so and ended up paying more because the next available ferry is a better one.

In 1843 it became an international settlement and all the western countries and Japan started to build there. So lots of colonial architecture on the island, much like part of Shanghai (the bund).

It is a pedestrian only island.

Still very much love the roots hanging trees.

statue of Zheng Chenggong, who was a general in the Ming dynasty. He conquered Taiwan so his statue there is CCP reiterating that "Taiwan is part of People's republic of China".🤨 top political issue in China and with US.
