Follow my Hatch: Silver Mallards

Hatching Duck eggs actually do better on their side and hand turned too. I don't mist or cool eggs either and have excellent success..

I have an incubator that I am using now that turns them on their side. It’s a first for me. None of my other hatches were incubated on their sides but in an upright turner.

I read that they do better in a side turner. So I am both nervous and excited about it.

Keep me updated on your hatch! I’m interested in seeing how it goes in your incubator, I’ve never heard of one that turns them on their sides. Very cool!

7 days, guys!!! If I had to rate my excitement and impatient-ness from 1-10....it’d be a 1,000. :wee

Today marks 26 days in the incubator. I have not seen any movement or rocking from any of the eggs since lockdown. Is it time to panic yet?:barnie
Nope I found out with my Black East Indies that they like to take the full 28 days. You could always candle if you’re worried to see what is happening in there. But you have two days before panicking.
