Food and water amounts for sick/recovering rooster

I would also give him 400IU Vitamin E and 1/2 tablet B-Complex daily. He's eating egg, so that will help with the uptake of E. I would give the vitamins for a week and see if that helps.

I was thinking about your guy last night and it struck me that Vitamin E and B would maybe help. I see someone else already recommended that. You do see chicks getting weird neck twists and stuff from lack of E and B ... and sometimes Selenium.
As posted previously, it was suggested to give E and B-Complex. The Egg will help with the uptake of E (egg contains sufficient Selenium). B-Complex contains B1 which is good for neurological symptoms (E is too).
Weird Neck twists and stuff can be from many things, but can be a neurological symptom called Wry Neck. A few causes would be trauma/injury, disease that affects the nervous system like Marek's and sometimes nutritional/vitamin deficiency. Vitamin Therapy is often used as a supportive care measure to give birds a boost so *hopefully* they can make a recovery.

I just wanted to pop in and thank everyone who took their time to help with ideas, wisdom and experience when I posted about Otis. Please know that I truly appreciate everyone who took time to answer, and I put nearly every idea to use. That said, I am happy to report I have a nearly 100% rooster back -- he is happily hanging with his ladies during the warmer period of the day, but coming in at night while it's still damp and cold -- until I know he's fully recovered from whatever the heck it was that brought him down.

Love to all of you -- from me and Otis!

Edited to add: I added B complex and brewer's yeast to his feed -- not sure if it made a difference, or if it just happened to be added on is upswing -- but I can't see how it would harm anything. I feed a high-quality all-flock food -- and they are all supplemented with quality veggies and protein scraps. I have let them have some scratch recently -- just to combat boredom being cooped up with the snow and cold. I mention the feed, because I am uncertain how he'd have gotten a deficiency. Anyhow -- for those who suggested it -- thank you, and I did want you to know that I did heed your advice.
