Food placement

Getting ready to move my chicks outside, im afraid if i have their food outside rain or birds will get at it. Is it ok to just have a feeder inside their coop or do they need one inside the coop and out in the run? Pros? Cons? Ty

Mine have both, my problem is that the rain spoils the outdoor food but we put a cover on it so it doesn’t anymore. Depending on how many you have, they probably shouldn’t need both.

I only have feed inside.

If your run will allow wild birds and rodents to get in, I would keep the feed inside.

No one right way to do it.....the best way depends on the space available, the type of feeder, etc. Options for keeping feed outside would be a feeder that protects from the elements, placing under an elevated coop for cover, a covered run, building a small roof over the feeder, etc.

Ok good enough. If it works for your chickens im happy with that. Im sure i could make it covered but if its rainy and windy the water can easily get in there depending on which way the wind blows unless i made huge cover and yeah not happening lol. Ty everyone
