What does everyone feed their flock? We have a mixed flock with roosters…there is so much info out there on what’s best…All flock? Soy free? Organic? You can’t find it all in one!

We get feed from a small, local company, and that stuff is great. It is never rancid and helps keep the birds healthy. Maybe there is something similar in your area?

I feed 18% grower feed, with oyster shell on the side, to all my flock.
The only exception, is when there is young (less then 5 weeks) chicks, I will give them a bit of chick starter on the side.
Or, I mix the two together, and it works out rather well, with the small chicks getting the smaller pellets, and the big chickens going for the bigger size.
I do it like that both because it has a bit more protein, and the smaller size is easier for them to eat.

Chicks can eat too but you may have to grind it up smaller for them but it’s 20 percent protein like chick starter

I buy one bag of chick starter/grower when I get chicks. By the time the bag is gone, they're big enough to transition to what I feed the adults.

When there's about 1/4 of the bag left, I start mixing in some of the adult feed. Every 3-4 days, I mix in a little more.
