then that means you are doing more than an adequate job of cooking and taking care of him

He seems to love everything you make without question. Now if it were my wife cooking I might

I agree with this. My husband too is that way, everytime I ask him waht he wants to eat he says the same thing, I don't care...He loves everything I make even if he has never seen it before he will try it because I guess I never have placed a bad meal in front of him. Several years ago, he started having a real interest on how I cooked. I guess because he was laid off and staying home and I was workign long hours and then came home to cook dinner. So one day I came home and he had cooked me one of his favorite dishes I make, Oven baked spanish chicken and rice. It is simple to make but youhave to know the ratios. I never measure. guess I got my cooking skills from my spanish grandmother I grew up with and cooked with every single day since the age of 6. Spanish chicken consists of 12 chicken thighs with the skin on. I place them in 2 galss baking dishes (6 in each) one 786lm crushed or diced tomatoes, half the can in each dish, then I fill the can with water and add half to each dish aswell. I then add a pinch of saffran, a tsp of crushed garlic, and 1 vegetable bouillon cube to each dish. I then add 1.5 cups long grain rice to each dish and bake at 350 for 35 to 45 minutes. Until the chicken is cooked through and the water is all gone. you have to watch it to make sure the water doesn't evaporate too quickly and burn the rice it all depends on your oven if the water gets absorbed too quickly add a little more to each pan. you can also add diced red peppers, oniona dn muchrooms to kick it up a bit. He loves this dish.

Another dish he really loves is my crockpot lentil goulash. I used to watch my grandmother make it on really cold nights. I didn't have a recipe so I went from what I remembered. 3 to 4 large sausages ( my husband prefers spicy)diced. Diced vegies (potatoes, carrots, celery, green or red pepper, onion) a couple beef bouillon cubes, a couple slices of bacon...optional!! 1 large can crushed tomatoes, garlic, salt pepper, if your husband likes it spicy add ac oupel shots tabasco, cayenne or chili powder, otherwise leave out. 1 cup lentils and enough water to cover all vegies and meat etc.. you can also add beef cubes instead of or with the sausage, but the sausage is more tender. I cook it on low for 8 hours or on high for about 4 to 5 hours. My husband can eat the whole thing to himself if I don't stop him, and my 6 yr old and 2 yr who are super picky eaters just devour it too!!!

never be afraid to experiment with the way you cook your food, it can lead to yummy suprises!!!!

This is Ken's response too. I get sick to death of ground beef and consequently rarely eat dinner anymore. Lost 50 lbs too.

He knows that twice a month we get chicken and TOO BAD and twice a month we get salmon, but we both LOVE that.

I usually don't get ground beef becuase it is TOO EXPENSIVE. A decent cut of steak often costs less. Once in a great while the cost is reasonable, and then I fix hamburgers, meatloaf (my favourite), spaghetti, meat with rice or similar.

Rather than saying "what do you want"? give him several choices that are quite different. Or give him choices based upon type of flavour/spices: Mexican/Italian/Greek/American/Chinese (etc.) Take note of what he does NOT like as well as what he does. (dh dislikes carrots, so I always make a point of not dishing any onto his plate when I fix a roast.)

Huh? You got him out for dinner and he wouldn't order his own food? Does he have any siblings, parents, etc., that you could ask about faves? Maybe you misread what I wrote.

But good luck, maybe you can just guess at it. Maybe have 2 things for him to choose from. "Would you like cheeseburgers and a salad, or meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and brussels sprouts? Cornbread or biscuits? If he won't choose, do whatever's easiest, or what you feel like having.

You could try showing him 2 or 3 recipes from magazines or cookbooks,(with color photos) and ask his opinion which looks the best. Don't ask if that's what he wants for dinner. Just ask which recipes look the best to him. Then try them out.

You GUY's aren't the only ones!! I'll eat chicken, pork, I love ham.

But if you are going to give me beef, it better be an 1 1/2 or thicker at least 16oz, cooked on a charcol grill just long enough to put grill marks on the front and back.

Folks took us to see friend in Texas when I was in the 8th grade, one night we had steak for dinner. Us kids got "chopped" steak, the grown ups got porterhouse. Sorry folks I can get a burger a McD's! "Chopped" steak is NOT a steak!!
