Food to feed chicks?

Yes I saw it. I'm new to all this so I bought 2 books on keeping chickens, since I am a book junkie, and have read all kinds of info on them but not all questions get answered that way. This is a good resource for info!

For a treat I always give the chicks a bit of scrambled or hard boiled egg. they go crazy for it.

I've always fed my chicks and chickens eggs in all forms and have never had a problem with egg eating

Well that's good! I might try it soon, I know they absolutely love earth worms. They run around like crazy with them dangling out of their beaks!

Yesterday I gave my 4-day-old chicks some hard-boiled egg yolk. In the morning, I mixed it with water and gave them each a few sips using an eyedropper. Then, last night, I took the other half of the yolk and just crumbled it up in a dish. They went NUTS for it!! It was so fun to watch.

Should I have offered chick grit when I gave them the egg yolk? I had read that you shouldn't give the starter grit until they are about 3 weeks old. Hope I haven't screwed up!

The eggs are soft enough that they shouldn't need the grit. But that's just my opinion
