Great job with them all, your roo looks pretty BA.

Keep posting!!

I'm sure you know a few tricks to make the chick more comfortable ... like taping a mirror to an inside wall of the brooder so the chick can see itself and not feel so alone .... also a soft plush toy teddy bear for it to cuddle and sleep with.

Mash, i think its just ground up corn, the old witch at the hatchery likes to be mysterious and claimed there are "other things" in it that make it special too. However i went at the storage area and found this worker grinding and making that mash with a huge machine and asked him. I say is that all you throw in there (huge bags of corn) and he said "yes piece of cake" and showed me how the machine works too.

So far its eating, you can tell that this chick is my flocks sibling, what an appetite

Another egg is hatching today! Its not "bakers" egg, its the same egg as the one that hatched.

I was hearing alot of noise and i though that it was the chick that hatched, but i found a crack on one of the two eggs while i picked it up to check them out. It moved! lol...

I can see the little beak too. Today i was gardening and found 2 worms a small and a huge. I gave the small first to the little chick and it gobbled it without second thought, then i cut down the big worm in 2 pieces and gave the half to the chick..i will not do it again, the chick started jumping all around like crazy and cried for help for a couple of minutes, i thought i killed it but it looks even stronger now. I tried to cover with moisture the egg that is hatching using a small piece of wet toilet paper, the little chick attacked it and ate a small part of it, LOL, Then it did it again and i pulled it up as i tried to take the toilet paper away.

what a mad chick. It does all the chicken things like cleaning the beak on the ground, eating tons of feed, pooping anywhere like on the toys eye, bites me, bites some wound i have on my hand when i am only trying to change waterer (it hurts lol)

I think the membrane is dry like the other egg and i tried to do the same thing, help it out. I took very small parts of the shell around the crack off carefully and i stopped hoping it will get out easier, if its still inside in 12 hours i might help it again by removing more, before it gets too tired to stay alive. The other chick tried to peck the hole of the egg, i stopped it and rotated the egg on the wall side of the brooder. What a crazy bird i am dealing with!

Here is a picture of the egg that is hatching now, excuse the chicks mess, i havent cleaned up the box yet, i plan to add wood shavings after some days on a tray or a wire floor. As you can see cabincrazyone i followed your advice and placed a baby toy i had laying around it worked and the chick uses it as a bed for some of the naps it takes.

Earlier this day...i had the garage door open and was inside the storage room while i heard something scratching... then more scratching... then i had to stop what i was doing and went inside and this is what i saw... the feed all over the place and 2 thiefs running away, one was white and the other was tanned. I couldnt capture them on this picture, they were so fast

I rushed out and threw the first weapon i had handy at the time, "YOU MISSED MEEEE SUCKER" screamed the white thief while both disappeared into the..jungle

Yes that was them, they were so hungry, they only ate grass, bugs, feed from the coop, treats, leftovers, things of the compost pile, bread and who knows what else, they needed that extra bite of the mash and couldnt resist or wait for me to pay attention to their hourly diet.
(i didnt really throw them the garden fork

)

The hatched chick is sleeping and no news from the hatching one yet, i am starting to think i have to help it a bit more.

Good luck BigDaddy'sGurl, how many eggs are you hatching

I make this post for the second hatching egg. Its alive, it hatched, i gave some water to it, it cant stand, the right leg has an issue, its pointing behind the bird i am not sure if this is what you call splayed leg, i am trying to help it i am searching and reading but i thought why not make a post here to share some photos. Oh the other egg is trying to hatch too, not cracks yet, but i can hear it loud and clear

No more talk here is the pictures

The picture above shows a cute fluffy butt taking care of the newly hatched sister. Dont miss it!

I hope i can fix the leg issue before its too late. So far it sings and i think sees too, i forced its little face in the water, didnt really work out, i did it several times to keep it moist. It just dried to give you an idea when it hatched, i saw it hatching!

I had to isolate the two birds because the first crazy bird pecked the second and tried to eat its nails lol then it got a piece of skunky bloody veiny disgusting staff of its belly and ate it LOL
