Foot Question: Black Cochin Roo - Pictures

Hello Cochin Lovers! We just joined this thread. We have raised a small flock of Black Cochins for a first 4-H project successfully last year. This is our first time with a Roo, and we have a concern about his feet. He is one year old and it is very wet and muddy in our chicken yard this year. I realize this is not the best for Cochin foot health!

Our Roo, Mr. Wattles, has had some red splotches on his feet over the last few weeks. He seems his normal self in all respects. But the colour of his feet have suddenly become rather alarming! The girls are all normal. Should we be concerned? Pictures below:

From the pics I can't tell if that is irritation from mud or not.

Roosters do get redness on the feet sometimes from hormones.

Which one of these is the case for your little guy, I don't know.

Thank you to both who responded. We moved him and the two other Cochins to a more dry location. We added roosts, as suggested, to improve foot condition. Keep you posted as to the results.
