I have 5 Buff-laced Polish. They aren't the brightest bulbs in my box.

My 2 hens are extremely sweet and docile. They are the 2 that my 2 year old can catch by herself and carry around. They don't seem to mind. They are the smallest hens in with the flock, they are almost as small as my bantam Silkies. I think they took a bit longer to start to mature. I don't see any attitude in those 2, but they also have a lot of more dominant hens in the flock. They do have bumps where spurs would be. They are now 26 weeks old but haven't started laying yet.

My Polish rooster are another story. They are the rogue boys of the flock, with 3 other roosters vying for the spot of top roosters, they don't seem to have any power, and instead they harass the hens. Despite their efforts, the hens don't submit to them for mating, saving themselves for the other 3 roosters. LOL We have also noticed that they roam much further from the coop than the rest of the flock. They are very curious, always first to greet visitors, and yesterday they were roaming all the way up to to the house and beyond and looking in our windows. We are currently looking for homes for 2 of the Polish roosters (want one? lol). They have recently started growing their spurs. As for development, they were slower to develop than my Catalana and Ameraucana roosters, but quicker than my Brahma rooster.

We haven't seen anything that would indicate that our four Polish - nearly six months old - are laying. Everyone else is laying(?)

IMHO I think polish appear dumber than other chickens because they see the world through tunnel vision. I have two and you don't dare walk up on them from the back or side because the second they catch your movement you are likely to end up with a face full of spooked polish.

my polish roo is the man around the yard even the langshan lets him rule.It was the white rock but he is in roo jail till he's rehomed. so spike has taken over as big boss.
He tests me every time I go out the back door. So he gets frequent " talks" to set him right

Someone just gave me 13 chickens....most of them polish. Am I supposed to clip the feathers around their eyes?
