For early birds only?

Welcome to Backyard Chickens! We are glad you joined the flock!:welcome BYC is a helpful site providing all of the information you need to know about poultry. There is always space for members on the BYC roost!:highfive:

Neither ducks or chickens require human attention as long as you provide their daily needs like access to food, water and a secure, enclosed run to prevent the ducks escaping and predators coming in. Grit might be important as well if there is a lack in the size or width of your run. I would keep at least a 5 gallon waterer in case you decide to be gone longer than your planned time. It comes in handy with my flock and only needs refilling once every two weeks for five chickens. Ducks might have a tendency to consume more though. Anyway, as for the breed, my friend has a Pekin who is sweet natured and you will also notice that the females are vocal and talkative compared to other breeds.
