I would love to be able to raise all of my own food. I wrote a paper when I was in college called Daily Doses of Toxins. I don't think the professor "got" the title. (DDT) I don't use any pesticides in my garden, and would much rather control "pests" thru natural methods.

my husband and I watched a documentary on the KFC chickens that Pamela Anderson is a spokes person for. Half way through the show its when we decided it was time to put this 48 acre time back in use.

we got 21 chickens egg layers this spring, and my hubby is slowly fixing the inside of the barn to add more pens and access doors. by next spring we plan on getting a few turkeys, some pigs, meat rabbits??!! (haven't fully discussed this one yet), 2 goats and a beef cow. We eat these animals and I rather know where its coming from and knowing they are well cared for and well fed before they serve their purpose to this family. At least we will know we gave them a good life without any cruelty or inhumanity.
