For our bike-ridin', chicken-lovin' friends (grab the tissue box)

Dawn, Thanks for posting that. Really great.

Here in Arkansas right now, due to all this rain, my SO is suffering from PMS and I've got the lesser known disorder called CGCB....Can't Get Coop Built!

ok,

this is in no particular order as i scribbled my notes on an old envelope......

a full face helmet may save your chin, but it will also break both your collarbones in the wrong kinda wreck. i am a total propenent of helmets. the way i landed, i banged up my chin in a shorty skull bucket, but a full face would have broken both my collar bones.

at only 30 mph on a 600 lb bike we totaled a lexis, go figure. and the funniest thing ( if there is one) is that the bike landed on it's kick stand we t-boned the little moron, got catapuleted over the car and our little sporty landed on her feet.

ams3651 & rayp, yeah the pelvis is where i'm busted up the worst, 2 titanium pins that love to announce themselves in cold weather.

nccountrygirl, the putz wasn't even drunk, just careless. btw i'm a lefty too. mama ratted you out...

herechickchick, from the damage to both of our skull buckets...we would both be dead if we had done without, which we never would do.

amystours, we had on full leathers so nothing was scoured off, but every bit of our anatomy from the waist down was purple. and i do mean every BIT.

all the doctors, through my mophine haze of course, wondered why there was no road rash. i told them, "why do you think i wouldnt let you fools cut all that leather off me? "

dying to ride, living vicariously through the v-twin forum!

cheers,

doc

Life cracks me up! When I was a "kid" and traveled from Alaska down the coast and back, I'd always see friends in their colors and leathers at the airports, just passing thru and someone would say: Hi Cheryl! I have been missing that lately, thinking on it and how the world has changed. How people used to hang out places, the airport for one, all kinds of people. My 70' something y/o dad always says "the good ole days" and here we all are meeting again...
On a chicken forum of all places HA HA My ex & his DW along w/our sons have had a Harley shop in OR these past years...wait till I tell them about this, she's been wanting chickens again and he misses the eggs! Life's a hoot.

A skidlid can save you a lot of trauma. IMHO leathers are a MUST! I can't believe how many fools I see on the highway with runners, shorts and tshirt. Can we say road pizza.

I haven't ridden in a few years now. Had a car pull up beside me one day and intentionally crank the wheel. Bike hit a pole hard enough to rip it in half. I was lucky that I bailed in time and only hit the pole with my knee. Some pins and a couple surgeries fixed the knee. Have lost a few good friends along the way because people where stupid and don't pay attention.

Dawn, I'm so glad that you guys are okay....though the bike doesn't look very healthy...

It probably doesn't need to be repeated, but here's another vote for, Yes, helmets save lives. Not every time, but enough times.

I'm not a biker but that was still touching.

I sure can relate to alot of the stuff on stereotyping though.

That was a great post! I've gotta send that to my MIL!! She has rode a bike ever since she graduated from high school. She belongs to a women's motorcycle club called: "Motor Maids". Anyone on here a member or heard of it? They are a super nice bunch of people and go to alot of functions and do rides together. Alot of the times, DH's go along and it's always a fun time.

That was beautiful. My husband and I ride occasionally, but the bike needs new carbs so this year is out of the question.

A couple of years ago there was a tragic accident in RI. It was on the 4th of July a couple was on their motorcycle when this idiot of a women on a CELL PHONE decided the person in front of her was going to slow and went to pass them. It was a no passing zone and she hit the couple on the motorcycle head on. They both died at the scene and the lady that hit them had the gall to blame them. She ended up getting 10 years for vehicular (sp?) homicide.
