For those of whom like foxes

I love foxes when I see them on animal planet like I do most animals, but when they start killing my pets then I have no feelings for them.

Good luck. I don't normally get too gung-ho over losing one chicken but when I feel like the victim of a repeat offender it is angering. With all that you've lost I think you gotta do what you gotta do. I've been losing one chicken every 2-5 days in similar attack methods, but he won't come back every single day. I've been sitting out there from 5-7pm every day, waiting to confront the perpetrator.

Me either, since im used to it cause this Raven kills them (YES A RAVEN KILLS THEM ) and i just get over it, since i cant kill a RAVEN, but i can kill a FOX for protecting my live stock

Very sorry for your loss.
I guess we also have to be accountable for our animal/pets protection. We have to look after them.
Fox's are a problem down here as well. The gov't has a $10.00 bounty on fox's.

I feel for you having lost many turkeys to two dogs in one hit. On the other hand, foxes are natural wild animals who have to hunt. Easy for me to say I know, but protection is better than killing them.

Ya i know, and we're getting this 10'8'20 dog kennel from a dude who wanted to keep Marten ( dont ask, I don't think he would be able too since their wild animals..) today, but I still want the fox gone since I'm sure he'll find a new way in

Sorry to hear about your losses. Around here we play the wacka game. Wacka fox, wacka 'yote, wacka coon, wacka 'possum, and wacka Bieber. By the way, I listed them in the order of intelligence.

Too many of any animal is a bad thing.

I am not of the opinion that I must jail my chickens 24/7 because of an opportunistic fox that wants an easy meal. Nobody here is a blood thirsty killer of animals that I am aware of but just want a little piece of real estate for their chickens to be safe in. I think you owe the OP an apology.

Just because an animal is domesticated does not mean it must be penned 24/7 for the sake of other animals existence. Chickens like to roam and it is natural for them. Allowing a fox to depend on domestic animals for food is not good for the species in general and studies show it increases the mortality rate among th species, disease and starvation as an example.

I won't mention the rabid fox in catasauqua PA which attacked a woman in broad daylight this week.
Too many of any animal causes problems and nature- whomever she may be-- needs to bring things into balance.

Nature is far from equilibrium anymore. Sometimes you just have to embrace your level on the food chain. No, I'm not saying kill everything, but protect your animals the best you can.

I have a live-and-let-live attitude toward wildlife, but I can't really say that foxes are high on my list of favorite local animals. We have rats, mice, and rabbits galore around here, but the foxes seem to prefer to massacre my chickens. As long as the hotwire around my pasture fence is working, they stay out, but if the wire shorts out on something, a fox seems to find out before I do. The last time it happened, the fox(es?) dug under the fence and killed 18 chickens and 5 ducks. This was around 9-10 o'clock in the morning, after the chickens were up and stirring. Our livestock make such easy meals, once discovered, there are some predators that will put a great deal of effort into coming back after them.
