St Hubert, I live in Alabama as well, and I have had several turkens. They do very well in our heat, and mine were excellent layers. They probably laid better than any other breed I have had, and they continued to lay throughout the summer when others gave out in the heat. Like others have said here, they are very docile and friendly. A couple of mine have wanted to snuggle up to me and be petted like a dog. Great chickens!
