For those of you waiting for your first eggs....

Wow this thread did it! First egg laid from red hens! Brown with tiny freckles! So pretty. Cut up an apple for a treat. Rooster is sittingin his nest clucking away...they are looking at me like, can we go outside now?

I have 3 BO - 1 broody, 1 with chicks, 1 not laying but every other day right now.
Then I have a buncha black orp pullets, 26 weeks old, none laying yet. C'mon girls! 12 chickens and no eggs is driving me crazy lol!

Never know when they will begin to lay. I bought 5, all different breeds but all hatched January 29th. 2 of them started laying first of July, the speckled Sussex and the BO. A week or so later the EE laid. Today, finally, the SL Wyandotte laid, and the light Brahma still hasn't...

My first GL Wyandotte laid 3 weeks ago, steady, then died from internal laying. My other GLW, BL Aust and my 2 Buff O's, all 28 weeks haven't laid yet!
2 are squatting, but no eggs.

We have one hen who started laying at 18 1/2 weeks. This week they will be 20 weeks, and I think we have a few more girls who are very close to being ready to lay. Now, if only the weather would cooperate.

Luckys! Still patiently waiting at 14 1/2 weeks

. I have the nest box in with a fake egg, all 3 are squatting and their wattles and combs are nice big and red. But, we can't rush mother nature.

I am right there with you! My girls are 16-19 weeks and are just as you describe your girls. My neighbor across the street with younger chickens (and similar breeds) is getting eggs now too. I am glad to know that I am not the only one still waiting
