for those with kids, when did you realize they weren't babies anymore?

NOT BABIES? When did that happen? As I told my sons the other day...you will always be my babies. I think as mother's we never stop looking at our kids as babies. We will always be worried about them no matter the age. As my mother told me...you will ALWAYS BE MY BABY!
Mine are 14 and 16 and 19.

I agree with Countrygirl!!!! My daughter is soon to turn 11, and still like to think of her as my baby. However the realization of the first bra and shaving her legs really made me stop and think. She isn't a baby anymore

Well my kids(babies) are 8 and 9 yrs old. I think I realized they were not babies when my son at 5 ate a whopper from burgerking. or when he says "Mom, I want a double cheeseburger and fries I an still hunger". And he is not a big kid he looks like we starve him wish I could eat like that .

With my daughter it was when she said "Look mom I have boobs can I have a bra now"

Shhhhhhhhh ! Mine is still a baby at 18. Just let her get ill. She calls and says Mommy I don't feel good what do I do? I help her through it and occasionally I drive the 50 mile round trip to take her what she needs even if she just needs to see Mommy.

I have 3 kiddos. 13,10,and 7. I think the 13 year old stopped being the baby when he started smelling like he does! The 10 yr old has always been to independent to be my baby. Not that I didn't try! My 7 year old will always be Mommy's baby. Just ask him he knows!! Last year during school he asked me one day if he could stay home so we could have a "mommy and cody day". Boy is that kid smart. Of course he got to stay home! One day won't kill him!

For me it was this May and June. In May my 24 year old son who has just returned from military service and Iraq took me out to dinner for my birthday and he paid. In June my two daughters, 26 & 27, took my husband and I out to lunch for Fathers Day and they paid. In the past we always paid even though it was our birthday/holiday. Their only contribution was showing up. I told them all - "that's it....you're officially adults". It was the first time they ever paid to treat me/us. We still pick up the tab when we all go out to eat, which is often, and expensive. Felt really good to have the "kids" start paying our way. But then again, they haven't offered to pick up the tab since and we've all gone out to eat many times.

Hi Okie - yeah, you're right. When my daughters whipped out their credit cards my husband just about died - said "I didn't know they had credit cards - when did they get those?" The oldest daughter has been married for 5 years and is a Psychologist but having her take us out to eat and pulling out the credit card and paying for it - well I think that's when it hit me that my "baby" was a grown woman.
