For those wondering about Duck Diaper Harnesses...

Quote:
I'm more than a little late to the game, but I had a peachick in my house once for four months! Paco hatched with perosis which twisted his feet so he walked on his knuckles. I brought him inside figuring he could at least live out his few days on earth in relative comfort. Instead he lived for months, following us around contentedly on wall-to-wall carpet until he finally just got too big for his twisted legs. He was diapered whenever loose in the house once he got beyond a certain size. Here he is taking a dirt... uh, carpet bath:

Wish I could say Nettie made the diaper harness, but this was in 2007. LOL A duck harness does fit peafowl bodies very well, though. They're both long birds.

I've had the joy of making a peacock and a turkey diaper! I just change the priginal designs around a little fit the bird better. Since peafowl tend to be longer, we make the pouches and straps longer. We recently made shoes for a Lancer Falcon at the oregon zoo too! We take on custom jobs for birds we're unfamiliar with, as long as the owner is willing to help us figure it out. We also recently made a special pair of shoes for a chicken who lost a foot, and a special pair of goose shoes that were reinforced with extra support going all the way up the leg to help an injury get better. We get weird requests all the time, so we don't mind

Hi Netti~ I emailed you about 1-2wks ago about an order especially for my special needs Rouen girl, and you suggested a slightly altered size F harness, well I just weighed her to get an aquarate weight on her so that you could truly give me the correct size, as I stated she is more of a petite little Rouen, and the dad a large runner, everyone is larger then momma. But momma Oreo is only a petite 2lb Rouen, the dad runner is 3lbs, and the 10-12wk babies are 2 1/2lbs, so everyone weighs more then momma. Here is a better view of her disability, do you still recommend a size F for her? What about the runner/rouen mix babies and dad weighing 2 1/2-3lbs and growing? I probably won't order 11 harnesses, but a few to take turns in the house. I don't know yet though. Now do you give or do discounts on multiple orders??

Special Needs Momma~ 2lbs. Are these good views to give you an idea on a harness for her? The last picture makes her look bigger then she is because she is puffing herself up to protect her eggs.

I'd still recommend an F, because I know an E would be just way too small. She may be light, but her shape and size would make an F better. You could take exact measurements of her so we can customize the straps, which may need to be smaller than a normal F. The harness would be altered with a "Foot hole" on the one side so you could place her foot through it, so she doesn't accidentally scoop her foot into the harnesses' pouch. Also, have you ever tried moving the leg to see if it does move? If it can be moved, you may have the possibility of getting her foot to the right position with a custom shoe.

We post sales every now and then of certain %'s off, but we don't have one going on currently. We're not going to post one until we're all caught up with our current orders (we fell behind after our workspace flooded and we had to move it.) sometimes certain fabrics go on sale, which might be the next one. Just keep an eye out in the beginning of Feb, as we should be posting on by then...

I'll take her measurements, where would the best spot be to measure? Also yes I've tried to move her leg and it is stuck like that, as far as paddling with the hip joint motion she can, just can not straighten/bend the leg.

I would love some info on your duck diaper harness. I am looking to get one for my mallard duck.I would like one for its adult size as currently it has a pen its in but I would love to give omlet more freedom around the house.

Hey there
I'm looking to purchase a duck harness for my new duckling which I will receive on the first of December. But I'm not sure what size I need to get for her. She will be about 4 weeks old and her breed is Pekin. Also, how often does it need to be changed? Any information that you can give would be greatly appreciated.
