my mom had cutco knives for like 30 years and other than the one that chipped, they were always great.

we've graduated to those european expensive ones, but i always thought her cutco stuff worked really well.

Seems like you got a deal with those knives, I have never used them let me know how it works out. For my chef knife I have a 10" knife from global, it was a gift from my mom. I love it.
