"Fort Scrub Oak" -- New Pictures on Page 4

skeeter9 and ChanceRider: I'm in California too, so that's probably why our land looks similar.

I figured that you were in CA after Lori said that, I was waiting for the answer, haha. Looks great! I cant wait to see it finished.

Wow! Id sure like to have some of those rocks.. Ours must be babys. Were I live in Tennessee there is not even a bump on my 20 acre plot. A few rocks and if you are lucky you can find one maybe the size of a football.
Id have a ball with those rocks making fences and lawn structures. OH how heavy do they get?

Oh what wonderful new babies. I will admit my partial attitude toward the silver laced wyandotte and the light brahma...I have one of each and they are a mess! The SLW is my stalker chicken...she has stalked me since she was about 2 weeks old..she rides with me in the van to go get coffee and really does not understand that she is a chicken. The Light Brahma has a deep voice and growls at the dog...but a real sweetie. anywhoooo hehehehehe

The coop is looking good. I am building "Eggtopia" at the moment and I also did the concreted in pillar-thingys and on relatively level ground compared to your slope. I hope when fenced in, it will give the girls extra shade/rain-free/snow-free hideout space. Keep up the good work, your girls are gonna love it!

I love that the kids are helping! It looks great so far!

Gorgeous birds!! I love the brahmas. Reminds me of my columbians. and I've always had a soft spot for SLW.
May the force be with you for your second run:)

I made a little more progress this weekend... got the basic rectangle of the coop framed. I'm realizing that, although simple, my design is more ambitious than my level of carpentry skill, and it's taking way longer than anticipated. If I have to keep my chicks in the brooder much longer, I'm going to have to install nest boxes in it!

Some of these rocks are way too heavy for me to lift... probably 200+ lbs. I broke a 2X4 trying to move one by prying at it.

I like our SLW too. It's my daughter's, and she named her "Chickie-Dale" She's medium friendly. She won't run from you but doesn't seem to be thrilled about being held. A nice chick.

Thanks. I've seen your pictures of Eggtopia. That's an impressive coop you have; nice and big! I'm already thinking maybe I should have designed mine bigger!
