Thanks Rebecca. Good luck with your new project!

Yesterday I finished the framing on our coop. Things are coming along well, but it's taking ten times longer than I had anticipated!

You got a long way!
I grew up in the CA foothills...they don't call them the hills for nothin! My dad had to make terraces down our property to have space for a coop and a garden...Never had a flood though! There is that big benefit...but watch out for errosion around the edges of fencing and such...
If they are really outgrowing your biggest box, you can ask your grocer for an empty pumpkin box, you know the octagonal things the pumpkins are in at the store? Those have nice tall sides to cut down on aerial exploration...

Don't give up I know you'll finish it up soon and the girls will love it!

THe coop looks great! Good job!

The pumpkin box is a good idea for the chicks. The other thing I've used as they got bigger
is a hard plastic kiddie pool ( may be hard to find now though) I made the sides taller with
cardboard from a big tv box. Then covered the top with some hardware cloth.

A refrigerator box or washer/dryer box is good too, the stores that sell them usually have them
available.

Keep us updated, I like seeing your progress.

Where in Cali are you? I'm in Auburn.

Comin' right along! It looks like you'll have a well built and sturdy coop when you're done. Your carpentry skills apparently far surpass mine

NancyDZ, just saw that you're up in Auburn... I'm a bit south of Placerville and wander around in the Auburn/Colfax area often.

It's absolutely amazing how time consuming this chicken coop business is. You've done a fabulous job so far! I can't wait to see it finished.
