TSC offered us 6 turkeys at a discount 4 weeks ago. They are BBW and I honestly will never get a BBW again! This is why...

We sold 2 and we had 4 left that we were going to use for meat. Ya okay... that was a great plan and all until these things melted our hearts. We kept talking about putting them in the freezer and having a big thanksgiving feast with them... that’s not happening now. They’re now in our large run because we cannot bring ourselves to butcher them. They’re 4 weeks old now and the attachment will only get worse as time goes on.

Anyone else have a BBW they couldn’t stand to butcher and decided to keep it?

Or any animal they’ve kept that they were supposed to butcher but couldn’t...

I had two, both hens. Loved them dearly for their short lives.
So you’ve done it and I’m not mean for not chopping them...

Some are eating watermelon right now with the rest of my flock and the others are eating wild strawberries.

My husband already told me that he does not want to have anything to do with butchering them because he has really bonded with them. He was petting them all the time and I swear he named them. He has zero problems with chicken butchering or quail. I guess turkey is off the menu 😂

Black and white is probably a Heritage Royal Palm. Can live 20 yrs maybe... usually 12 to 15

I had a pair of BBB that I fell in love with.... until I caught the jake standing on his BFF, a br cockerel. I had a friend wack him. I couldn't... but he tasted good. The hen I tried to breed with some heritage nari, but she never laid fertilized eggs. I had my brother wack her at 18 months because her legs were bothering her. ..she was tasty too

Well if we have to whack them we will. I’ll give them a try first though. If they die of old age they’ll be cremated. If they die because they are jerk faces then they’ll die by the hatchet.

My husband doesn’t even know I put them in the run yet. Wait till he gets home

So he went into the run and the turkeys came running. He said “What, do you think if you’re on this side of the fence you’re safe? Well, you’re right!” It was funny to watch them all run up to him when he went in there.

They’re hilarious. I can’t believe I’m thinking of keeping them.
