Due to enquiries concerning the length of time it takes people with slower connections to load posts I would like to let all of you know there are options available if you click on your "profile" when logged in. They are located in the display option field.

Show smilies as graphic icons

Show user signatures.

Show user avatars in posts.

Show images in posts.

Show images in user signatures.


All these features can be turned off and on by the user in order to tailor their preferred experience here at BYC.

A quick footnote on the "Show user signatures": We often get emails from members that are distracted by the signature lines while reading the forum. If this happens to you, you can simply toggle this option in your profile to hide all the signatures on the forum.

All those little smileys can cause issues with slow connections Justino. Time outs are not uncommon when forums get really busy and too many graphics are in threads and signatures. Especially for those not having fast connections available to them. I would bet that takes in 10% or more of our members.

'Show smilies as graphic icons' has always been 'turned off' here. That option makes this forum wonderful for me. All I see is a little symbol, haha, and they are easily ignored. If it's a c&p, it still shows.
