Hi all! I was just reflecting today on how lucky I am to have been entrusted with a a Foster Dog. Her name is Cookie(Monster), she is pretty much a Black and white Pit mix. She only weighs 55 pounds unless you are trying to kick her out of bed then she weighs 5x as much, but at every vet weigh in she only hits 55 on the scale. I have never had a dog that can sleep through a bed removal but this one can, she has skills! Regardless, I am awake in the middle of the night again as she has decided her 70 pound head needs to rest on my legs tonight.

I am so gratefull to have her she is the only one of our three dogs that actually listens reliably and runs home when you call her. The other two either claim old age and arthritis or a hearing deficit and don't move quickly. She helps me wrangle the roos as needed and is a real asset to have. I am so happy I failed her as I love having this animal in my home.

The photo is of her helping carve the Halloween Pumpkin.

We are in similar worlds.. Between the immediate family there are 4 rescues. One just went to the other side recently, (age) so 3. 2 more are semi rescues.

Name; LOKI was looking for a home for 3 years. Kept being returned. I think it was because of the shedding fur. :idunno DD adopted and now has a FOREVER HOME for over 2 years. Very gentle. About 40 lbs. Gets groomed at home regularly and shedding fur under control. :thumbsup

@AllenK@new2this just wondering about Cookie...will you have to eventually give her up to a forever home or will you be able to keep her? She sounds like a sweetheart.
She is a sweetie. Don't think we ever have to worry about giving her back we have had her since Oct 2015 and kept up on the vetting we did fill out the "foster paperwork" and maintain facebook contact with the original person to rescue her. I don't expect that phone to ever ring!:D (edit---also I wouldn't be surprised if Palm Valley isn't keeping us on the books so they can charge the city of McAllen, Tx some kind of foster maintenance fee.)

Also she does love the beach just doesn't like the waves. She absolutely adores children in strollers because they usually have snacks!

--edit--
Just to clarify children in strollers, she plops her butt down and sends puppy dog eyes and tail wag begs.

An update at our corral. DD found the ideal rescue and she picked her up today. 3 months old and compatible with the 3 small children she has. Shelter does not know exact breed, but looks to be a medium size mix of whatever. My other DD thinks she knows when got the pix via text. This is what she wrote,,,,, 50% cute ,,, 25% adorable,,,, and 25% I cant stand how cute she is,,,, :gigThis is the replacement for the one recently lost due to age. All those in post #3 are still with us. :thumbsup
Another forever home for a rescued pet,,, :love

We just rescued this sweet baby at the end of January and she's such a perfect fit! She was found wandering on the side of a road on Christmas Eve at only 2 months old and was turned over to a rescue and we fell in love at first sight. Our big dogs (also rescues) are showing her the ropes and she is doing great around our ducks and chickens so far. Rescuing is definitely rewarding! I haven't fostered for years now, but it is also rewarding!

What a cute pittie mix you got there! Mine likes chest rubs and butt scratches, well and just attention in general. I have never had a puppy pit rescue so jealous.
