If he's going to be mad at you anyways I would call animal control and report her weaving in traffic and running loose. They will come get her if she has no tags and take her to the shelter, if he looks for her he will find her, if he doesn't look he doesn't care (which it seems to be the case already) if he ets her out he'll have to pay, and as many times as she's loose I'd call on him, hed be in a world of bills

i would at least try talking to the owner...they might not be bad people, they might have an escape artist on their hands. i would rather someone alert me to the problem than take my dog to the pound where it might be put to sleep because i didnt call to check on time.

I'm back. I walked into my dentist's office and sitting there in the waiting room was a Deputy Sheriff for our county. I ran the puppy's story by her and she said that what I did was not illegal

and that she herself would have done what I did. Said it was no different than if I had picked her up and taken her to animal control (ours is a kill shelter, this pup is NOT going there) because she was a loose dog, with no ID, in the road.

I feel better, going to contact a rescue group that is always in the Petsmart I work in, so they know who I am.

Wish me luck getting her in!

I wish! She is super sweet. But we already have 3 dogs and I promised my DH that I wouldn't bring any more dogs home.

This puppy is seriously wonderful. She is sweet, smart, calm (for a puppy), QUIET, loving, gentle, playful... I've seen only good qualities in her so far and NO bad ones. I really wish we could keep her.

Sigh. Anyway, I gave her a nice big bowl of kibble and she goobled it up. She is on a runner that is 50' long and I had an extra Dogloo that fits her perfectly. She's all set... and I'm ready, willing and able to keep her until we can find a GOOD home for her.
