Fosters

I have a lesbian pair of white homers that make good foster parents (all though lately they have turned somewhat slutty and began laying fertile eggs.)

I also have a pair of pouters that have served me well in the past. I think any pair of pigeons can fill the bill even feral for that matter.

Oops!
I just reread your post I just realize I do not have a clue about short beaked pigeons.

I usually wait 5 days in my loft before giving squabs to fosters just to insure the pigeon milk has been delivered. Unless it just involves a straight eggs swap.

Like Hokum Coco I have never raised short beaked birds. Birmingham Rollers are small to moderate in size and are very tenacious feeders. Their beaks are moderately sized, and I would guess that they would work well at feeding short beaked varieties.

flying flights and mookees are also good just find some birds and try them what breed are you fostering just remeber this story a top breeder of french mondains used english trumpeters and indian fantail he put just one under each foster parent so anything that set tight is easy to handle and does the job is the best
