@ Kussandra, I found the box to our BB gun I was talking about. It says .177 Pellet and BB gun metal barrel. It is a hand pump gun though. Is your's a hand pump gun?

Look on the box for the velocity of the .177 pellet when shot. Ours is not a hand pump, but the velocity is the key, if you can get a good velocity w/ the hand pump it should work.

The gun I have the size .22 pellet is at 820 velocity and that isn't always a clean kill, but the .17 pellet is a 1000 velocity and that so far has always been a clean kill. So based on what I have experienced I would say a minimum of around 1000.
