Found a Duckling

Do you have any dog or catfood? If so, wet the food so it’s mush. Then see if the duckling will eat it. This isn’t a permanent solution to the feed. Or maybe try tuna smushed up. But it should get you but until you can get poultry feed. Can you ask your Dad if there are feed stores anywhere near you? If so, and you want to private message me some towns in your vicinity. I call them and see what kinds are available to you all. Or you can do a google search for feed stores. Try to get the duckling to eat something soon. And the duckling crying for you is normal. It is imprinted on you and thinks you are it’s Mother.
I have a dog. The duck is eating the boiled egg. The nearest city is 4 hours away. I can try and buy poultry feed off a neighbor who keeps chickens.

I am not saying not to take care of the duckling, maybe a rehab would be the best place as they know what to do with stranded wild ducklings and other such birds that fall under the migratory bird act. They would also know the proper feeds and would rehabilitate it back to be able to live in the wild.
I am posting to clear up some other statements - if a native wild bird it is illegal to posses without a permit as stated here:
https://www.fws.gov/birds/policies-and-regulations/laws-legislations/migratory-bird-treaty-act.php

And, if you don't want to click on the link:

The Migratory Bird Treaty Act makes it illegal for anyone to take, possess, import, export, transport, sell, purchase, barter, or offer for sale, purchase, or barter, any migratory bird, or the parts, nests, or eggs of such a bird except under the terms of a valid permit issued pursuant to Federal regulations. The migratory bird species protected by the Act are listed in 50 CFR 10.13.

He is eating lots and likes to run around. I've been walking him around outside.
That’s so good to hear. Did the little one end up preferring the boiled egg? Or has it decided to eat something else? They love worms by the way. Pick up a stone in your yard and you will likely find one. You might have to mush it up though. It will be so delighted to get worms! Keep us updated on how he is doing?

Grooming himself is exactly what you want to see. The process of grooming allows his oil gland to start working better. It looks like a wetish dot on his skin right above his tail feathers. It will rub his head on the oil gland and then spread the oil to the rest of its body. This process makes them eventually waterproof.
