Found a goat with her head stuck in a fence today....

I want to add though that what the man said is correct....MOST of the time.
All my goats have horns, and we used to have fencing that was rebar fencing that is used when they pour cement foundations. It was cheap and tall and worked for the goats. We still have a bit left, but not much.
Anyway, our goats used to always do it and we would always get them unstuck. One time we sent them for breeding and the guy left the one girl stuck in the fence for 3 days I hear after we picked her back up. I was horrified!! (we never went back there again FYI) And so, after that, she never got stuck in the fence again as during that time, she learned how to get out.

All the rest of our goats have learned how to get unstuck, but, once in a while one will get into a weird spot and we will have to free her.

There was once a busy body lady that kept stopping EVERY time our goat was eatting weeds on the other side of the fence (not stuck- eating) and send her kid up to the door to complain we needed to do something. Always, as we walk out there to look, she pulls her head back through. Finally she stopped showing up after she saw the goat pull free.

You can correct the problem by taking a 1x2 piece of wood longer across than the horns and duck taping it to her horns so she cannot get her head into the fence to start with. You might want to pass that on to your friend.

Smoky~ Three days??? That would be horrible. The little girl i got out ran directly to her water when she got out.......I can't imagine letting them be stuck for three days.

I would have done the same thing...cut the fence...we have people down the road that have a ton of goats and I was going on an errand one day and there were about 7 or 8 goats standing in the middle of the road. Lots of people almost hit the poor things and no one stopped. I pulled into the people's driveway and knocked on the door and told her what was going on. She frantically called her husband and told him to come home to help her get them and just kept thanking me over and over again. I would want someone to tell me if my animals were out of their fence.

I think it's sad that people are too self absorbed nowadays to stop what they're doing and help someone else.

Sometimes, the fence we have now will come undone in places from them butting it again and again and my neighbor will call me at work and tell me my goats are out. So, then I go and get them back in. I only live about 6 miles away, so, not a big deal. Better than them getting hit on the road.

There was one day, one of our skittish ones, was eating weeds through the old part of the fence by a tree stump (old narly one too) and got her head through the fence to eat the weeds but somehow got stuck by a stray branch. Apparently she tried desperately to get out and the poor goat was her head one direction, her body upside down and legs another direction! Hubby and I were both at work. He got her out asap. She was thankful, he thought she was dead.
Every one is fine though, and that section has since been fixed lol.
